Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is it wrong to masturbate??

A: Masturbation is a normal and healthy thing. You have probably heard a lot of myths and lies about masturbation though. Like how it's dirty, or it's wrong, or even that it will make you go blind! None of that is true.

Many people also think that only guys masturbate. Wrong again! Girls love to masturbate too. Anyone who is sexual can masturbate. There's no right or wrong way to do it, it's all about knowing how your body works, and giving yourself pleasure.

The best part about masturbating, too, is that it is 100% safe! It's one of the best ways to satisfy your sexual desires without taking any risks!

Q: Are most young people my age having sex?

A: Some are, and some aren't. There's no answer to this question, really. It's important to know that young people have sex for many different reasons. Whether or not you're sexually active, it's always good to know what some of your personal reasons to have sex are.

Young people who are not sexually active sometimes find it really intimidating to become active. Plus, with all the risks of contracting STIs nowadays, no wonder! If you feel this way, then remember that there are lots of other sexy stuff you can do other than vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Touching, rubbing (dry-humping), and mutual masturbation are very hot (and safe). In fact, just napping next to someone is one of the best ways to feel close with them.

The bottom line is, know what you want to do, and what you don't want. Try to communicate with your partner. And don't get tunnel vision and think that sex is only anal, oral, or vaginal. There's so much more!

Q: How can I tell between admiring someone and liking them sexually or romantically??

A: Well, often, you can't. And sometimes, it feels okay to not know if it's just admiration or it's something more intimate.

The times when it doesn't feel okay is if there is something "weird" about liking that person. For example, if you are very different in age, if they are related to you (like a cousin or something), or if they are of the same sex. There are all sorts of pressures in society that says we can only admire these people, and nothing more.

The important thing to remember is that desire and admiration aren't always separable. It's human nature to appreciate other people, to like different aspects of their person. And that, you always have choices as to what to do with your desire or admiration.
