1. Read the section About
Us and be aware of ACAS Mission and
ACAS Objectives. Read the section on ACAS
Principles and Values. If you feel that you can be a part
of our mission, make a commitment to fulfilling our objectives,
and observe our principles and values, then you might be suitable
to volunteer at ACAS.
2. Familiarize yourself with our Programs –
Support, MSM Outreach,
Women Outreach, and Youth
Outreach . All volunteers work to support the goals
of each program by directly working in each program or providing
other administrative support work for each program. We have
other types of volunteer positions as well – Administration,
Research, Website Design, Graphic/Desktop Publishing, Committee
Members, Board Members.
3. Be realistic about the time, energy, and skills you have for
this commitment. In general ACAS requires an ongoing commitment
of 6 months. Volunteer hours vary with each program and
position assigned, but general time commitment is about 2-3 hours
a week.
4. Fill out an on-line volunteer
application form and submit it to the volunteer program coordinator.
5. The volunteer program coordinator will contact you either
by phone or email to arrange a one to one interview. At
this time, your skills and interests will be assessed to help
you find the best match for you and ACAS.
6. All volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Training
Orientation and Workshop to prepare you for volunteering at ACAS.
Depending on your particular interest and relevant skills, you
will be placed with a Program Coordinator who will arrange additional
assessment and training to prepare you for participation in their
particular program.
