Condom Usage

Animation requires Macromedia Flash 7 installed on your computer.

1. When properly used, a condom will effectively stop the transmission of the virus.

2. Always store condoms away from heat and sunlight. So don't carry condoms in your wallet! (the heat from your body can break down the latex).

3. Condoms come in a variety of sizes, textures and tastes (yummy!).

4. Oil tends to weaken the latex and may cause the condom to break, so always use a water-based lubricant, rather than oil-based one.

5. Water-soluble lubes are not necessarily safe since it may still be oil-based. For example, soap and some kinds of cream are water-soluble (can be easily washed off with water), but they contain or are made of oil products.

How to put on a condom

Step 1:

  • Check expiry date on condom package
  • Tear along side of package carefully

Step 2:

  • Pinch the tip of the condom
  • Place the condom on a hard penis
  • Gently roll down the condom while holding the tip

Step 3:

  • Apply water-based lube (i.e. KY Jelly, Muko, or Astroglide)
  • Do NOT use oil-based lube like oil, grease or Vaseline
  • Oil-based lube may break the condom

Step 4:

  • After ejaculation, hold the base of the condom and pull out while the penis is still hard
  • Throw condom in the garbage
  • Use each condom only once
