About the artist

Lai Tak Ki

Tak is originally from Hong Kong where he studied traditional Chinese calligraphy and Brush Painting. Since moving to Canada, Tak has expanded his oeuvre to include Western techniques. His interest lies in the natural depiction of still life objects, landscapes and figurative drawing. Tak employs a variety of materials ranging from charcoal, watercolour and oil painting.

Tak is currently working on a series on lotuses as part of an upcoming exhibition. Drawing on his personal interest in meditation, Yoga and Tai-chi, along with his commitment to ACAS as a long time volunteer, the lotus is a highly charged subject matter that is particularly relevant to people living with HIV/AIDS.
